Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis tells his Iraqi counterpart: Once again, we call for solving the problem with air travel to Minsk
Tonight, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and once again urged him to address the problem of the air transport channel for irregular migration between Baghdad and Minsk.
Lithuania's Foreign Minister expressed his deep concern regarding additional flights from Baghdad to Minsk. According to the Foreign Minister, his Iraqi counterpart promised him to find out motives and reasons for the decision of the Iraqi airlines in the near future, and assured that there would be a reaction to Lithuania's request to send a delegation of experts.
“I reiterated once again that participation in any possible criminal scheme of Belarus was particularly damaging to the reputation of Iraq, as a country that had declared its commitment to the path of democracy and peace. Not only Lithuania, the entire European Union expects Baghdad to take action against the organisers of a criminal human smuggling network,” said Landsbergis.
