On 16 September in Washington, D.C., the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with entrepreneurs from American companies that operate in the sectors of defence, financial services, cybersecurity, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and human resource management. These companies either operate or plan their activities in Lithuania.
On 15 September, the Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis bestowed upon the Mayor of Hiratsuka Katsuhiro Ochiai the Lithuanian State decoration – the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit for Lithuania. The Mayor Ochiai was awarded for the active promotion and development of bilateral cooperation between Japan and Lithuania in the field of culture, sports and youth exchange. Support of Hiratsuka – the host town of the Lithuanian Olympic and Paralympic team, provided to Lithuanian athletes was indispensable in preparation for Tokyo 2020 Games.
On 15 September, the Ambassador of Lithuania to Egypt Artūras Gailiūnas presented his letters of credence to the President of Egypt Abdul Fattah al-Sisi during an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
On 15 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken to discuss the region's security challenges posed by autocratic regimes to democracy.
On 14 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis began his working visit to the United States with meetings in the U.S. Congress. With members of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, Landsbergis discussed issues related to strengthening transatlantic relations, bilateral economic cooperation, regional and global security, including the Belarusian regime's attempts to instrumentalize migration, pressure from China over Lithuania's decision to strengthen economic ties with Taiwan, as well as the situation in Ukraine, Cuba, and Venezuela.
On 13 September, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Arnoldas Pranckevičius met with the Austrian Federal Minister for the European Union and Constitution Karoline Edtstadler. The meeting focused on the EU's joint response to the challenges of irregular migration, the state of play of the Conference on the Future of Europe, the rule of law, climate change, relations with China, the management of COVID-19, and other issues of bilateral relations.
On 10 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European & Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State Michael J. Murphy. The meeting focused on issues relating to bilateral economic cooperation, regional and global security, as well as strategic challenges in relations with Russia, Belarus, and China.
On September 20, Ambassador of Lithuania in Japan Gediminas Varvuolis received at the Lithuanian Embassy Chargé d'Affaires of the United States in Japan Raymond Greene. During the meeting, support of the United States to Lithuania's decision to deepen cultural and economic ties with Taiwan was expressed.
On 7 September, Lithuania's Ambassador Lyra Puišytė-Bostroem presented copies of letters of credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Andorra Maria Ubach Font. The Ambassador will present the originals to the Bishop of Urgel and the President of France.
On 7 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jakub Kulhánek, who was visiting Lithuania on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment and the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and the Czech Republic.
On 6 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau, who was visiting Vilnius on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Poland.
On 3 September, Lithuania's Ambassador to Armenia Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė officially handed over the consignment of 27,500 doses of the EU-made "AstraZeneca" vaccines, which was donated by Lithuania to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Armenia in mid-August.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Poland, after Lithuania regained its independence and Poland cast off the communist regime. 30 years ago the two countries revived a comprehensive cooperation as modern and democratic European states. Connected by geography, bound together by common history and cultural heritage, as well as extensive people-to-people contacts and pursuing the same geopolitical interests, Lithuania and Poland once again became natural allies and friends.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that it will call the Ambassador of Lithuania to China for consultations on 4 September after China's statement of 10 August.
On 24 August, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis met with Austrian Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexander Schallenberg. They discussed bilateral relations, illegal migration and urgent items on the European Union (EU) and international agenda.
